Urban Systems Engineering Program

ACADEMIC

GRADUATE EDUCATION INSTITUTE

Urban Systems Engineering is a discipline that deals with urban infrastructures. Urban Systems Engineering covers the identification, design, construction and maintenance of streets and avenues, sidewalks, water transport networks, sewer systems, street lighting, urban solid waste management, parks and gardens, bicycle paths and all similar urban structures, as well as the management of water resources, and it deals with the city’s infrastructure problems in areas such as solid and liquid waste management, transportation solutions, maintenance and lighting of public areas such as streets and parks, distribution of local electricity and telecommunications services.

Urban Systems Engineering mainly includes Civil Engineering, Water Resources Engineering and Transportation Engineering elements. Although Urban Systems Engineering seems to overlap with the specific fields of Civil Engineering, it is mainly focused on the coordination of networks and systems and infrastructures in cities. The purpose of the Urban Systems Engineering Master’s Program is to provide individuals who have graduated from four-year related undergraduate departments with high-level knowledge and expertise about urban and transportation systems. This program helps individuals who want to improve their career by providing creative and innovative ideas for transportation and planning systems in accordance with the conditions of our country and by increasing their effectiveness in their duties. The program also contains the information necessary to solve problems in general engineering and planning issues within a multidisciplinary approaches.

Participants of this program, gain the organizational, planning, decision-making and management competencies required by executive and planner positions in public and private organizations. In the Urban Systems Engineering Master’s Program, an interdisciplinary education will be provided for urban problems and deci-sions. New approaches and solutions will be presented to transportation, which has become a big problem especially in our big cities today, by bringing together environmental, architectural, cultural approaches and urbanism approach and by offering new solutions from this point of view and by addressing all the dynamics of the city.

Urban Systems Engineering Master’s Program will provide students with systematic thinking and engineering principles and technology, the Urban Planning approach, the ability to analyze environmental factors affecting living in the city, and the ability to perceive the city as a whole and produce practical solutions to problems.

Urban Systems Engineering Master’s Program is multidisciplinary; Although it is expressed as a minor branch of civil engineering, it covers many areas of architecture and engineering such as Urbanism, City and Regional Planning, Environmental Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Computer Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Architecture, Landscape Architecture.
